    -Bachelor of Nursing Science (B.NSc.) candidates shall, in addition to A (ii.) above, hold at least two A Level passes in Biology/Zoology and any one of Chemistry or Physics; OR the Registered Nursing Certificate (RN) of the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria; OR a B.Sc. degree (with at least Second Class Lower) in any of the Biological Sciences.

    -Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science (B.MLS) candidates shall, in addition to A (ii.) above, hold at least two A Level passes in Biology/Zoology and any one of Chemistry or Physics; Medical Laboratory Technician Diploma of the medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN); B.Sc. degree (with at least Second Class Lower) in any of the Biological Sciences; or HND (with at least Lower Credit) in Microbiology and Science Laboratory Technology.

    -Candidates applying for any of the Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) programmes, shall, in addition to A (ii.) above, hold at least two A Level passes, including Mathematics and Physics; OR National Diploma (Upper Credit) in Engineering.

    -LL.B., candidates shall, in addition to A (ii.) above, have obtained two papers at Principal or Advanced level in HSC, GCE, IJMB or JUPEB; OR an acceptable bachelor’s degree. A minimum of WAEC/NECO SSCE/GCE O Level credit pass in Literature in English is mandatory for all intending candidates.

    (ii) DIRECT ENTRY CANDIDATES (300 LEVEL)
    Candidates should be holders of HND in their respective fields of study. HND in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Statistics or Mathematics is acceptable for B.Sc. Computer Science. HND in Computer Engineering or Electrical & Electronics Engineering is acceptable for B.Eng. Electrical and Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering and Biomedical Engineering.

    Holders of professional certificates such as ACA, ACIB, ACIS, ACIN and ACIT are eligible for admission at this level.

    Admission requirements:
    Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME)

    Admission into Obong University shall be through Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME) conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) or Direct Entry. In addition to attaining the general required standard in UTME, candidates must satisfy the general university requirements as well as the specific School/Faculty and Programmes requirements. All admissions shall be through JAMB.
    Candidates must possess at least five (5) credit passes in relevant subjects (Government, History, Economics, Geography, Literature in English, etc) including English Language at GCE O/L, WASCE, SSCE, NECO or approved equivalents at not more than 2 sittings.
    Candidates with Teachers Grade II (TC II) with passes at credit or merit levels in conjunction with credit passes in relevant subjects at GCE, WASCE, SSCE, NECO or approved equivalents may be considered. No subject may be counted at both TC II and GCE O/L
    Candidates who wish to change their first choice to Obong University are required to:

    Direct Entry

    Candidates for Direct Entry admission must possess any of the following qualifications:

    Two (2) passes at GCE A/L, HSC, IJMB, JUPEB or approved equivalents in relevant subjects and at least credit passes in three (3) other subjects, including English Language at GCE (O/L), WASCE, SSCE, NECO or approved equivalents at not more than two sittings

    Two “A” level passes including Government or History.

    Course entry requirements:
    (i) Admissions through the UTME
    For admission to 100 level, candidates must possess five (5) credit passes at Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSSCE), GCE, NECO or equivalent in relevant subjects in not more than two sittings; and obtain a score of 140 and above in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.

    -University shall insist on possession of credit passes in English Language and Mathematics for all categories of students.
    -The University shall also conduct post JAMB screening to ensure that only the best students are admitted. In addition to the general admission requirements stated above, a candidate must meet specific departmental requirements

    (ii) Admission through Direct Entry mode
    -For admission to 200 level, candidates must possess five (5) passes at credit level (including English Language) at Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSSCE), GCE, NECO or equivalent in relevant subjects in not more than two sittings.
    -In addition to the above, candidates should have at least two advanced level passes in the General Certificate of Education examination in relevant subjects, or

    -Passes in two IJMB/JUPEB courses out of the three

    Admissions into 300 level
    Candidates with HND, or third class degree can apply for admission into 300 level.

    IJMB
    Kwararafa University also offers the Interim Joint Matriculations Board (IJMB)programme. It is a nationally recognized one year programme which offers successful candidates the opportunity of gaining Direct entry (200 level) admission into any of the Universities

    (iii) The entry requirements for IJMB
    For admission to IJMB, a candidates must possess four(4) credit passes at Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSSCE), GCE, NECO or equivalent in relevant subjects in not more than two sittings.

    The subjects offered at IJMB include: Lit. in English, History, CRK, Government, Economics, Business Studies, Accounting, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, Geography, Agricultural Science, among others.

    A combination of any 3 subjects grants admission to study for degrees in:

    Admission into the B.Sc. Sociology Programme at Taraba State University
    is in two categories; Direct Entry, University and Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

    Direct Entry: Applicants for admission into three year degree programme in Sociology should possess Diploma (at least lower credit) or NCE (at least a merit pass) in relevant field (i.e. social science or arts oriented courses). In addition the candidate must have five relevant Credits at “O” level which must include English Language, Mathematics and Government/History and any two subjects from Arts or Social Sciences.

    UME: Applicants for admission into four year Degree Programme in Sociology should posses SSCE/GCE/NECO/Grade II with at least five credits including English Language, Mathematics and Government/History and any two subjects from Arts or Social Sciences. However, applicants must possess the required UTME cut off points as may be fixed by the relevant authority.

    Entry requirements:
    1. Candidates for the B.SC Sociology degree are required to take and pass a minimum of 36 credits each academic year make up of two semesters. A credit unit is defined as one contact hour per week per semester.
    2. Candidates are required to take and pass the prescribed University-Wide General Studies Courses (GST) which are all credit-earning.
    3. Candidates are also required to earn a minimum of ten and maximum of fifteen credits from Electives outside the department.
    4. The total minimum number of credits required for graduation is 144 for UME students, and 108 for Direct Entry students which must be earned from courses offered within the department, recommended non-departmental courses and University-Wide General Studies Courses. Transfer students from recognized Universities are accepted on merit. Students with any other qualifications acceptable to the University Senate may also be admitted.

For emphasis Credit passes in English Language and any of Economics, Geography or Government are compulsory. Grade level for Mathematics cannot be lower than Pass.

Diploma in Criminology, Diploma in Mass communication, and Diploma in social Development, IJMBE and other related Diploma is required.
