    A. Admission Requirement: Four-Year Degree Programme in Economics

    The Four Year Degree Programme in Economics

    Candidates must have obtained credit passes in five subjects at a sitting or six subjects at not more than two sittings at ‘O’ Level/Senior Secondary Certificate (WAEC, NECO etc.) Examinations. The credits must include English Language, Mathematics, Economics and any other two subjects in Arts or Social Sciences.
    Candidates must take at the UTME, English Language, Mathematics, Economics and any other Arts of Social Sciences subjects.
    Candidates must succeed in Screening Test.


    B. Admission Requirement: Three-Year Degree Programme in Economics.



    To be considered for admission into the 3-year degree programme, candidates must have passed, at credit level, five subjects including English Language, Economics and Mathematics at the Senior Secondary School Certificates/GCE Ordinary Level or its equivalent; as well as Economics and at least one of Mathematics, Statistics, Geography, Physics, Chemistry, Agricultural Science, Accounting, Business Management, History or Government at the G.C.E, Advanced level.

    (Note: Commerce is not one of the subjects accepted in the Department of Economics)

    (C) JAMB REQUIREMENTS
    100 Level Candidates are required to sit for the 2017/2018 UTME of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and attain the prescribed cut-off marks. This is a statutory requirement for admission into Samuel Adegboyega University. Applicants are to ensure that their UTME subject combinations qualify them for their chosen programmes. Direct Entry candidates must obtain the JAMB Direct Entry Forms. Candidates, who did not choose Samuel Adegboyega University initially in their 2017 UTME but are interested, are also eligible to apply for admission and participate in the admission screening exercise of the University.

    Admission requirements:
    A candidate seeking admission into the B.Sc. programme in Economics has to satisfy both university minimum entry requirements, and departmental requirements. The basic entry requirements into Economics Department are clearly spelt out by the NUC, and further elaborated in the Madonna University General Academic Rules and Regulation (MUGARR). Admission is usually through Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), direct entry, inter university transfer, or inter departmental transfer.

    For admission through UTME, candidates must possess at least five O’ Level credits in SSCE, GCE, NECO or their equivalent. These credits must include English Language, mathematics, Economics, and any other two subjects in not more than two sittings.

    For admission into 100 level, a candidate must possess the senior Secondary School Certificate or equivalent with credits in five subjects at one sitting only. He/she must also have an acceptable score in the joint admission and matriculation examination or its equivalents.
    For direct admission into 200 level, a candidate must posses at least two advanced level passes in the west African General Certificate of Education or equivalents in addition to credits in five subject or the Senior Secondary School Certificate or equivalents.

    Candidates for admission into the three-year (6-semester) Direct Entry category shall possess five Credits in GCE, SSCE, NECO or their equivalents, of which at least two shall be at Advanced Level, provided that such passes are not counted at both levels of the examination. For emphasis, Credit passes in English Language, mathematics, and Economics are required.
