Institutions Offering Postgraduate Diploma in Microbiology

•  Lagos State University, Lagos  
  Course entry requirements:
  i. All candidates must have five credit passes including English, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics at ‘0’ Level.
  ii. A Bachelor or science (B.Sc.) Degree in Microbiology, Food Technology or any other appropriate course in biological Sciences from any University recognized by the senate of LASU
  iii. Holders of HND in relevant programme from approved institutions with a minimum of Upper Credit may also be considered for admission.
  iv. Higher National Diploma or Certificate (HND or HNC) in science Laboratory Technology (Microbiology Option) or Food Technology.
  v. Associateship of the Institute of Medical Laboratory Technology (AIMLT) Certificate.
  vi. Final Diploma in science Laboratory Technology (Microbiology Option) or the relevant discipline.
  Note: Two years’ Post-qualification experience in relevant areas in Microbiology and its related fields will
  be an added advantage to categories (i),(ii),(iii) and (iv) above
  
  Course duration: minimum of Two (2) semesters and a maximum of four (4) semesters.

•  Bowen University, Iwo  
  Course entry requirements:
  (i) All candidates are to have five credit passes including English Language and Mathematics where applicable.
  
  (ii) Candidates with Bachelor’s Degree from an approved University must obtain a minimum of pass degree in the relevant programme
  
  (iii) Holders of HND in relevant programmes from approved institutions with a minimum of Lower Credit may also be considered for admission.
  
  Candidates in regular employment or employed at Bowen must indicate such and must submit with their applications, formal letter of release to Postgraduate College.
  
  Applicants who are not graduates of Bowen University must request their former Universities or institutions to forward directly to the College Administrator, College of Postgraduate Studies, Bowen University their academic transcripts as applicable.
•  University of Jos, Jos  
  Course Entry Requirements:
  
  Candidate must possess a minimum of 5 credit passes in Mathematics, English Language, Chemistry, Biology and Physics.
  
  Candidates with Third Class degree of the University of Jos or any other University in Microbiology, Biochemistry or relevant allied courses with one year post qualification experience may be admitted
  
  Holders of HND with at least credit level pass in Microbiology and the courses listed above. Candidates with PASS degree or HND do not qualify for admission.
  
  Other general requirements for admission into postgraduate diploma programme in University of Jos as provided in the School of Postgraduate Studies guidelines not already mentioned shall apply. These requirements are reviewed from time to time in accordance with the University postgraduate framework.
•  Akwa Ibom State University, Ikot  
  Course entry requirements:
  (a) SSC or its equivalent with credit passes in at least 5 subjects including English Language, Mathematics, Biology Chemistry and any other relevant subject at not more than two sittings.
  (b) B.Sc. Degree with a minimum of Third Class in any of the following disciplines: Microbiology, Biology, Botany, Zoology, Biochemistry, Medical Laboratory Science and Food Science.
  (c) Holders of HND in Microbiology and related disciplines at Upper Credit Level may be considered.
•  Kwara State University, Malete  
  Course entry requirements:
  (i) Graduates of Kwara State University or other recognized Universities.
  (ii) Holders of Higher National Diploma (HND) (not HD) with minimum of Credit pass or its equivalent in relevant areas.
  (iii) Candidates who hold qualifications other than the above, which are acceptable to the Board of School of Postgraduate Studies and Senate of the University.
  In addition to (i) – (iii) above, a candidate must satisfy the University’s requirements for matriculation.
•  The Federal University of Technology Akure, Akure  
  Course entry requirements:
  (a) A first degree, not lower than Third Class, in the relevant discipline.
  (b) Higher National Diploma (HND) of at least Lower Credit level or its equivalent in the relevant or related discipline.
  
  Course duration:
  (a) Full-Time students shall normally spend between eighteen (18) and twenty-four (24) months.
  (b) Part-Time students shall normally spend between eighteen (18) and thirty-six (36) months.
•  Bells University of Technology, Ota  
  Course entry requirements:
  -Five (5) Credit passes at not more than two sittings including English Language and Mathematics.
  
  -Candidates with a Bachelor degree from Bells University of Technology, or any other approved University, with a minimum of Third Class degree in relevant discipline. Holders of HND in relevant programmes from approved institutions with a minimum of Upper Credit may also be considered for admission.
•  Edo State University, Uzairue  
  Course entry requirements:
  -A First Degree not less than Third Class Honors in relevant fields may be considered.
  
  -Candidates with HND in relevant field may be considered.
  
  -Any relevant professional qualification
  
  Course duration: A minimum of two (2) semesters and a maximum of four (4) semesters.
•  Afe Babalola University, Ado Ekiti  
  Course entry requirements:
  -Five Credit Passes including English, Mathematics and three other relevant subjects at 'O'
  -Bachelor's Degree holders from any NUC approved University with a minimum of Third-Class Degree in a relevant
  -HND in relevant Programmes from approved institutions with a minimum of Lower Credit.

  (i) A degree in Statistics or any related discipline from the university of Agriculture, Makurdi or any approved university.
  (ii) A Higher National Diploma in Statistics or any related diploma from any Polytechnic approved by NBTE
