Institutions Offering Master of Science in Food and Industrial Microbiology

•  University of Jos, Jos  
  Course Entry Requirements:
  
  Candidate must possess a minimum of 5 credit passes in Mathematics, English Language, Chemistry, Biology and any other science subject with at least a pass in Physics at O’ Level.
  
  Applicants shall normally hold a first degree with a minimum of a second class lower of the University of Jos or any other University in Microbiology, Biochemistry or relevant allied courses.
  
  Candidates with third class degree of the University of Jos or any other University in Microbiology, Biochemistry or relevant allied courses with three years post qualification experience may be admitted after obtaining a postgraduate diploma in Microbiology with a minimum CGPA of 3.50 on a 5 point scale and 3.00 on a 4 point scale. The eligibility of such candidates for admission shall be determined by the Postgraduate School Board in consultation with the Department.
  
  Candidates with Postgraduate Diploma in Microbiology or any other relevant allied disciplines with a minimum of Lower Credit (CGPA of 3.50) of the University of Jos or any other recognized University with one year work experience may be admitted.
  
  Candidates with PASS degree, HND or PASS postgraduate Diploma do not qualify for admission.
  
•  University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Nsukka  
  Course entry requirements:
  i) All candidates must have five credit passes including English, Mathematics and two other relevant science subjects at ‘O’ Level.
  ii) (a) Candidates with Bachelor’s degrees from an approved university must obtain a minimum ofsecond class lower division with a CGPA of 3.0/5.0 for an academic programme.
  (b) Candidates with at least a third class degree and university PGD with CGPA of 3.0/.5.0 may be considered for admission into academic Master’s degree programmes.
  iii) All candidates must demonstrate adequate intellectual capacity, maturity and effective decision making and problem solving potentials.
  
  Course duration:
  i) A full time: minimum of 3 semesters and a maximum of 5 semesters.
  ii) Part-time: minimum of 5 semesters and a maximum of 8 semesters.
  iii) For extension beyond the specified maximum period a special permission of Senate shall be required.
