    Admission requirements:

    An applicant must have credit passes (A1-C6) in core English, core Mathematics, and either core Integrated Science or Social Studies and three elective subjects, with an overall aggregate score of Thirty-six (36) or better. In addition, candidates must satisfy the specific requirements of the relevant Faculty/School. The entry is at Level 100:

    a.Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSSCE).

    An applicant must have credit passes (A-D) in core English, core Mathematics and either core Science or Social Studies and three elective subjects, with an overall aggregate score of Twenty-four (24) or better. In addition, candidates must satisfy the specific requirements of the relevant faculty/school. Entry is at Level 100.

    b.General Certificate of Education (GCE) Ordinary and Advanced Levels.

    An applicant must have at least credit passes in 5 subjects (including English Language and Mathematics at the GCE Ordinary Level and at least 2 passes at the GCE Advanced Level. One of the Advanced Level passes must be grade ‘D’ or better. A pass in General Paper must also be obtained. Entry is at Level 100.

    c.Professional qualifications/Tertiary Diplomas (Entry at levels 200 and 300).

    The level of placement of professional certificate and tertiary level diploma holders will depend on the assessment of their certificates or diplomas in relation to the programme desired. All professional certificate and tertiary level diploma holders must have either G.C.E. “O” Level credit passes in English Language and Mathematics or SSSCE/WASSCE credit passes in English Language and Core Mathematics to qualify for admission. The placement level of candidates will depend on assessment of their certificates by the relevant Faculty/School or Department.



    d.Admission through Mature Students’ Entrance Examination.

    The candidate must be at least 25 years old by 31st December of the year preceding the examination. A certified copy of birth certificate is required. The date of issue of the birth certificate should not be less than five years from the date of the completion of the admission forms. The submission of fraudulent certificates is grounds for withdrawal at any point in a student’s enrolment.

    Mature Students’ Entrance Examinations consist of a General Paper for all candidates and two papers in the area(s) of specialization desired.



    e.Applicants with foreign certificates.

    Foreign applicants must have qualifications equivalent to the above to be considered for admission. Their results must also be translated into English and they should be able to read and write in English. Additionally, all foreign certificates validated by the National Accreditation Board. Applicants may also be required to pass an entrance examination/interview.

    In addition to the general admission requirements, Schools, Faculties and Departments may have special entry requirements. The academic catalogues of the Schools and Faculties must be consulted for up-to-date information.



    f.Entry requirements for Diploma programmes

    To be admitted to a Diploma programme, a candidate must satisfy the following minimum requirements besides conditions stipulated for the particular programme:

    Course entry requirements
    (i) Senior Secondary School Certificate Examinations (SSSCE), West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) and General Business Certificate Examination (GBCE)
    The general requirements for admission of WASSCE, SSSCE and GBCE candidates to first degree programmes are three (3) credit passes in three core subjects and three (3) credit passes in three relevant elective subjects.

    -SSSCE Candidates: Credit Passes (A-D) in six (6) subjects comprising three core subjects, including English Language and Mathematics, plus three (3) relevant elective subjects.
    -WASSCE Candidates: Credit Passes (A1-C6) in six (6) subjects comprising three core subjects, including English Language and Mathematics, plus three (3) relevant elective subjects.
    -GBCE Candidates: Credit Passes (A-D) in six (6) subjects comprising three core subjects including English Language and Mathematics plus three (3) relevant elective subjects

    (ii) General Certificate of Education (GCE) Advanced Level Candidates
    -Passes in three (3) subjects (at least, one of the passes should be Grade D or better). Also, the applicant must have had credit passes (Grade 6) in five GCE Ordinary Level subjects including English Language, Mathematics and a Science subject (for non-science students) and an Arts subject (for Science students).

    (iii) Admission of Higher National Diploma (HND) Candidates to First Degree Programmes
    -Applicant must have graduated with a good HND certificate (i.e. at least 2nd Class Lower Division). In addition, the applicant must have acquired a 2-year post-HND qualification working experience. Other Diploma qualifications from elsewhere assessed to be equivalent to HND may be similarly considered.

    (iv) Advanced Business Certificate Examination (ABCE) Candidates
    -Full Diploma Certificate in ABCE. Also, the applicant must have had credit passes in five (5) subjects including English Language, Mathematics, Integrated Science or Social Studies in the General Business Certificate Examination (GBCE) or Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSSCE) or West African Senior Secondary School Certificate Examinations (WASSCE). ABCE candidates may be considered for admission at level 200 of a degree programme.

    (v) Mature Students’ Entry
    Mature students’ entry avenues to tertiary education provide opportunities for people who could not do so earlier in their lives to further their education at the tertiary level after some years in the workplace.

    -The applicant must be at least 25 years old, and show proof of age with birth certificate or any legitimate documentary proof of date of birth which is at least 5 years old at the time of application;
    -The applicant must pass Mature Students’ Entrance Examinations conducted by the institution itself (English Language, Mathematics); In lieu of such examinations, the applicant should show proof of credit passes in English Language and Mathematics in WASSCE or any other nationally recognised standard High School level examinations (for qualifications from countries outside WAEC’s aegis).

    Course entry requirements
    (i) WASSCE/SSSCE applicants
    Credits in the three (3) SSSCE /WASSCE Core Subjects (Mathematics, English Language and Integrated Science) plus credits in any three elective subjects with an aggregate score of 24 or 36 respectively.

    (ii) "A" level applicants
    Five (5) Credits at “O” Level including Mathematics and English Language, plus, two (2) Passes at “A” Level in any subject.

    (iii) Mature applicants
    -Applicants must be 25 years at the time of submitting the application.
    -Must have either :Five credits at the “O” Level including Mathematics and English Language. OR WASSCE/SSSCE credits in three (3) Core Subjects (Mathematics, English Language and Integrated Science), plus credits in three (3) Elective Subjects.

    (iv) International Baccalaurette
    -Applicants must have good academic background .
    -They must obtain a distinction, credit or pass as decided by the jury.
    -They should also be proficient in English.
    This is checked through written exams, verbal interview and certification from a recognized language institution

    (v) American grade 12
    -Holders must have good academic background.
    This must be evaluated with the actual results on transcript for the programme.

    (vi) City and Guilds
    -Holders must have Technician Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Microcomputer Technology or in any relevant IT Programmes

    (vii) Higher National Diploma
    -Holders of Higher National Diploma in Information Technology/ HND in Computer Science or an IT related programme from a recognized University or Tertiary Institution with 1st Class, 2nd Upper or 2nd Lower grades.
    -They must also satisfy the basic entry requirement into University.
