    Admission requirements:

    An applicant must have credit passes (A1-C6) in core English, core Mathematics, and either core Integrated Science or Social Studies and three elective subjects, with an overall aggregate score of Thirty-six (36) or better. In addition, candidates must satisfy the specific requirements of the relevant Faculty/School. The entry is at Level 100:

    a.Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSSCE).

    An applicant must have credit passes (A-D) in core English, core Mathematics and either core Science or Social Studies and three elective subjects, with an overall aggregate score of Twenty-four (24) or better. In addition, candidates must satisfy the specific requirements of the relevant faculty/school. Entry is at Level 100.

    b.General Certificate of Education (GCE) Ordinary and Advanced Levels.

    An applicant must have at least credit passes in 5 subjects (including English Language and Mathematics at the GCE Ordinary Level and at least 2 passes at the GCE Advanced Level. One of the Advanced Level passes must be grade ‘D’ or better. A pass in General Paper must also be obtained. Entry is at Level 100.

    c.Professional qualifications/Tertiary Diplomas (Entry at levels 200 and 300).

    The level of placement of professional certificate and tertiary level diploma holders will depend on the assessment of their certificates or diplomas in relation to the programme desired. All professional certificate and tertiary level diploma holders must have either G.C.E. “O” Level credit passes in English Language and Mathematics or SSSCE/WASSCE credit passes in English Language and Core Mathematics to qualify for admission. The placement level of candidates will depend on assessment of their certificates by the relevant Faculty/School or Department.



    d.Admission through Mature Students’ Entrance Examination.

    The candidate must be at least 25 years old by 31st December of the year preceding the examination. A certified copy of birth certificate is required. The date of issue of the birth certificate should not be less than five years from the date of the completion of the admission forms. The submission of fraudulent certificates is grounds for withdrawal at any point in a student’s enrolment.

    Mature Students’ Entrance Examinations consist of a General Paper for all candidates and two papers in the area(s) of specialization desired.



    e.Applicants with foreign certificates.

    Foreign applicants must have qualifications equivalent to the above to be considered for admission. Their results must also be translated into English and they should be able to read and write in English. Additionally, all foreign certificates validated by the National Accreditation Board. Applicants may also be required to pass an entrance examination/interview.

    In addition to the general admission requirements, Schools, Faculties and Departments may have special entry requirements. The academic catalogues of the Schools and Faculties must be consulted for up-to-date information.



    f.Entry requirements for Diploma programmes

    To be admitted to a Diploma programme, a candidate must satisfy the following minimum requirements besides conditions stipulated for the particular programme:

    Admission criteria

    Applicants are expected to have either of the qualifications below:

    (i) Senior Secondary School Certificate Examinations (SSSCE), and West African Senior School Certificate Examinations (WASSCE) candidates:
    -SSSCE Candidates: Credit Passes (A-D) in six (6) subjects comprising three (3) core subjects, including English Language and Mathematics, plus three (3) relevant elective subjects.
    -WASSCE Candidates: Credit Passes (A1-C6) in six (6) subjects comprising three (3) core subjects, including English Language and Mathematics, plus three (3) relevant elective subjects.

    (ii) General Certificate of Education (GCE) Advanced Level candidates:
    -Passes in three (3) GCE Advanced Level subjects (at least one of the passes should be Grade D or better).
    -Also, the applicant must have had credit passes (Grade 6) in five GCE Ordinary Level subjects including English, Mathematics, a Science subject (for non-science students) and an Art’s subject (for science students).

    (iii) Admission of Higher National Diploma (HND) candidates to first-degree programmes:
    Applicant must have graduated with a good HND certificate (at least second class lower division). In addition, the applicant must have acquired a minimum of two (2) years post-HND qualification working experience. Other diploma qualifications from elsewhere assessed to be equivalent to HND by the National Accreditation Board (NAB) may be similarly considered.

    (iv) Advanced Business Certificate Examination (ABCE) candidates:
    -Passes in three (3) subjects (at least one of the passes should be Grade D or better). Also, the applicant must have credit passes in five (5) subjects including English, Mathematics, Integrated Science or Social Studies in the General Business Certificate Examination (GBCE)

    (v) Mature Students’ entry:
    -Mature students entry avenues to tertiary education provide opportunities for people who could not do so earlier to further their education at the tertiary level after years in the workplace.
    -The applicant must be at least twenty-five (25) years old, at the time of registration and show proof of age with birth certificate or any legitimate document.
    -An applicant must pass the mature students’ entrance examinations conducted by GIMPA in English, Mathematics and an Aptitude test

    (vi) Foreign Qualifications:
    -All foreign qualifications would be referred to the National Accreditation Board (NAB) for determination of equivalences and eligibility for admission to tertiary institutions in Ghana in accordance with the National Accreditation Board Act, 2007 [Act 744 (2(2b)].Note should be taken however that the American SAT, TOEFL etc. cannot in themselves be acceptable as entry qualifications into GIMPA.

    (a) Bachelor of Law (Post-first degree)

    (b) Bachelor of Law (WASSEC Applicants)

    Course duration: 4 years

    (ii) GCE “O” Level or “A” Level HOLDERS
    -Credit passes in at least five (5) subjects including English language, Mathematics and a Science Subject in West African Examinations Council (WAEC) G.C.E ‘O Level or School Certificate Examinations
    -Two (2) passes (at least C) at the GCE Advanced Level excluding General Paper.



    (iii) Mature students
    the applicant must:
    -Be at least 25 years and above
    -Show proof of age with birth certificate or any legitimate documentary proof of birth date which is at least 5 years old at the time of application.
    -Provide introductory letter from employer or show any other proof of employment.
    -Pass Mature Students’ Entrance Examinations conducted by the institution itself (English Language, Mathematics, General Paper and Aptitude Test)
    -Attend an interview



    (iv) HND Holders and Others
    Applicants in this category must have:
    -At least a second Class Lower or an HND with at least a lower credit.
    -Students who have completed year 1 of a Nigerian University can be considered for year 1 entry to a Bachelor degree.
    -An NCE (National Certificate of Education) from a College of Education is also acceptable for entry into year 1 only.

    WASSSCE with credits in the three core subjects (English, Mathematics and Integrated Science/Social Studies) and three WASSCE elective subjects in General Arts or Science or Business with Business Management, Economics, Accounting, Costing and Business Mathematics with aggregate 36 or better.
    GCE Advanced Level with credits in at least five ‘O’ Level subject, including English Language and Mathematics, together with three ‘A’ Levels or equivalent in Arts or Science Subjects, and
    Mature candidates who must be 25 years of age or above at the time of submitting the application with at least five passes at the ‘O’ Levels, including English Language and Mathematics or WASSSCE/SSSCE with passes in the three core subjects (English, Mathematics and Integrated Science/Social Studies) and three WASSSCE elective subjects in General Arts or Science or Business. The Candidate must pass entrance examination and interview.

    ‘A’ LEVEL APPLICANTS (Category 1)
    - ‘O’ Level: Credit passes in FIVE (5) subjects including English Language and Mathematics.
    - ‘A’ Level or equivalent: Credit passes in relevant subjects in General Science, Business, Visual Art or General Arts.

    MATURE APPLICANTS (Category I)
    - An applicants should be at least 25 years at the time of the application.
    - An applicant must satisfy the requirements for either WASSCE/SSSCE or ‘A’ Level
    - Short-listed Applicants shall take an entrance examination and pass an interview. Applicants in this category will be required to pursue the Programme for Four (4) Years.
    Mature applicants must be non-degree holders
