(A) General Admission Requirement:
Minimum entry qualification into part-time B.Sc. Economics degree programme is five credits relevant related subjects including English and Mathematics obtained in not more than two sittings in any of the following examinations:
• SSCE, WAEC, NECO, GCE WAEC, GCE NECO, NABTEB or their equivalents

(B) Direct Entry Requirement
In addition to the general admissions requirement stated above, an applicant is expected to posses any of the under- listed qualifications:
i A minimum of two relevant subjects passed at GCE Advanced level Examination
ii. NCE, at least 3 subjects passed on merit
iii. A foundation level pass at the professional stage of any relevant professional examination

Candidates for admission into four – year degree program in the department should possess a Senior Secondary School certificate or General certificate of Education or their equivalent with at least five credit passes of which three shall be Economics, Mathematics and. English. In addition, candidates must, have acceptable passes in University Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME)
Candidates for Direct Entry admission (i.e. three – year program) shall possess five credit passes in general certificate of Education or its equivalent of which at least two shall be in advanced level, provided such passes are not counted at both levels of the examination.
Candidates wishing to join the department for four – year degree program through the Remedial Program must have at least credit passes in four subjects including Economics at ordinary level. After the Remedial Program, such candidates must acquire credit passes in at least five subjects including Mathematics and English Language (a Faculty requirement)

(a)An acceptable pass in UME (University Matriculation Examination), Which must include Economics and Mathematics, and any other relevant social science, or Arts subjects chosen from the following: Government, History, Literature in English, French; Geography, and CRK/IRK. In addition, candidates must have O’ Level Credit passes in Economics, Mathematics, English Language and two relevant Social Science, Science or Arts subject; or

(c)Two “A” level passes in Economics and one of Mathematics, Statistics, Geography, Physics, Chemistry, Agric Science, Business Management, History and Government. In addition, candidates must have minimum of five credit passes including Mathematics, Economics and English language; or

(d)Diploma in a relevant field with a minimum pass of upper credit (CGPA 3.5 and above). In addition, candidates must have a minimum of five O’ level Credit passes including Mathematics, Economics and English language.

UTME:

A candidate through this mode must possess/ obtain:
(a) A Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSSC) or G.C.E. ‘O’ Level with 5 credit passes including English Language, Mathematics, Economics and two other social science subjects in not more than two sittings.
(b) A satisfactory score in UTME (or the prevailing admission examination) in the year of admission.
(c) A satisfactory score in PUTME (or the prevailing University screening exercise) in the year of admission.

Direct Entry:

Candidates for Direct Entry admissions shall possess five credits in GCE, SSCE, NECO, or their equivalents, of which at least two shall be at Advanced Level, provided that such passes are not counted at both levels of the examination. For emphasis, credit passes in English Language, Mathematics and Economics are required. Other requirements include the possession of NCE, OND or its equivalents.
