  • Ambrose Alli University Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma  
    Entry requirements:
    A student is admitted into the MBBS degree programme of the College of Medicine, Ambrose Alli University through either of the following routes:
    1.Six Year Programme Through University Matriculation Examination (U.M.E.)
    Candidates with a credit pass in at least five subjects at the GCE/SSCE/NECO or equivalent level at not more than two sittings. The subjects must include Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics and English Language. Only candidates with high scores in JAMB not below 50% are selectable.
    2.Five Year Programme Through Direct Entry (D.E.)
    Candidates must satisfy the U.M.E. requirements in addition to:
    Passes at the Advanced Level GCE or equivalent at not more than two sittings in Biology (or Zoology), Physics and Chemistry, or
    B.Sc. (Hons.) degree at the second class or higher level in the subjects of Biology, Zoology, Botany, Chemistry, Medical Laboratory and related Sciences.
    3.Intra – and Inter-Unitersity transfer candidates who have the U.M.E. admission requirements as stated above. The level to which transfer is made depends on the qualification and must not have had a carry over.

    Other Programmes (B.M.L.S. AND B.SC. Physiology)
    5 year programme (BMLS) and 4 year programme (B.Sc. Physiology)
    As in A(i) above for the 6 year programme for the MBBS.
    4 year programme for BMLS and 3 year programme for B.Sc. Physiology (Direct Entry). As in A (ii) above for the 5 year programme for the MBBS. However, a degree in any Biological Sciences or related discipline or any other qualifications which is considered to be equivalent to the above qualification may be accepted.
    Transfer
    As in A (iii) above for the MBBS Inter/Intra University transfers, except that such candidates could have had a carry over but the CGPA must not be less than 1.
    All transfers are subject to availability of vacancy.
    Screening tests may be administered to candidates to determine whether or not they possess the capabilities for the qualification/JAMB score claimed.

    Admission requirements:
    Candidates are admitted into the department of Medical Laboratory Science for Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science degree and for the Professional examination either through the entrance mode for five year programme or by direct entry mode for four (4) year programme.

    Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME)

    In addition to the University minimum entry requirements, the entrance candidates are required to have credit level passes in English Language, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics in the West African School Certificate Examination or in the Senior Secondary School final examination or in the General certificate of education ordinary level examination. Credit level passes in the five papers in the National Certificate of Examination (NECO) are also acceptable. Credit level passes in any of the examinations shall not be in more than two sittings.

    Direct Entry

    In addition to satisfying the above requirements candidates for direct entry admission must hold the General certificate in Education Advanced level certificate or the Principal level passes Certificate in the Higher School Certificate Examination in Chemistry, Physics or Biology or Zoology. Holders of University degree from recognized universities or the Higher National Diploma Certificate in Biochemistry, Microbiology or in any other related courses can also apply for direct entry admission. Holders of Medical Laboratory Technician Certificate with relevant O level papers or the National diploma in Science Laboratory with relevant ‘O’ level papers may also be accepted for direct admission.

    -Current Unified Tertiary Matriculations Examination (UTME) Result
    -Five O' Level (WAEC, NECO, GCE, NABTEB and IGCSE) Credit Passes at one sitting to include English Language, Mathematics, Literature in English, and any other 2 Social Sciences or Arts Subjects are required for admission into College of Law.
    -Five O' Level (WAEC, NECO, GCE, NABTEB and IGCSE) Credit Passes at one sitting to include English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and Biology are required for admission into the MBBS Programme.
    -Other Programmes: Five O' Level (WAEC, NECO, GCE, NABTEB and IGCSE) Credit Passes at not more than two sittings to include English Language, Mathematics and three (3) other subjects relevant to course of study.
    -Results of PAST Unified Tertiary Matriculations Examinations (UTME) are not allowed.
    -Candidates awaiting SSCE results or its equivalent can also apply for admission provided they qualify when results are available.

    Admission Requirements:
    There are three modes of admission into the MBBS programme, namely: JAMB Direct Entry (DE), JAMB Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and placement through successful completion of the one-year Remedial Science programme of the University.

    Candidates wishing to study MBBS must have obtained a minimum UTME score of 200 with at least five (5) O’level credits at not more than two (2) sittings. The credits must be in the following subjects: Biology, Chemistry, English Language, Mathematics and Physics.
    A grade point score of 4.0 and above in the Remedial Science Programme of the University of Maiduguri, with minimum UTME and O’level requirements as in (i) above.
    Candidates with an average of 3.0 “A” level passes at minimum of C in Biology, Chemistry and Physics plus five (5) O/level credits (as in i above) are admitted through the JAMB DE. Also candidates with first class or second class upper degree in relevant courses (Anatomy, Physiology and Biochemistry).
