    Course entry requirements
    Graduate
    -Normally a 2.1 Honours degree or above, or equivalent qualification acceptable to the University in Economics or a closely related subject (e.g. Business Economics, Finance, Mathematics, joint degrees with substantial economics component). Performance in relevant modules must be of the required standard.

    -Applicants are advised to apply as early as possible and ideally no later than 12th August 2022 for courses which commence in late September. In the event that any programme receives a high number of applications, the University reserves the right to close the application portal.     English Language Requirements
    Evidence of an IELTS* score of 6.5, with not less than 5.5 in any component, or an equivalent qualification acceptable to the University is required. *Taken within the last 2 years.

    International students wishing to apply to Queen's University Belfast (and for whom English is not their first language), must be able to demonstrate their proficiency in English in order to benefit fully from their course of study or research.     Course Structure:
    The course structure is designed to be stimulating and challenging. Students take core modules in Microeconomics, Macroeconomics and Econometrics in the first semester. In the second semester, students take specialized field modules that may include further Microeconomics, International Trade, Labor Economics and Industrial Organization. The program also requires students to undertake a research thesis during the summer term. The thesis uses the skills attained from the taught modules and allows students to demonstrate the analytical competencies developed throughout the program.

    Course Duration: 1 year full-time

    Entry requirements:
    The degree is targeted at high quality students with a strong background in Economics or with strong quantitative skills. In particular, students are eligible for admission if they have obtained the equivalent of at least a 2.1 grade in:
    - an honors degree in Economics
    - an honors degree in which Economics formed a substantial component, including joint honors Economics degrees and some Business and Finance degrees that include core -
    Economics modules
    - an honors degree in which there was a substantial quantitative component, such as Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematical Physics or Statistics
    a postgraduate conversion course such as a Higher Diploma in Economic Science or similar.
    Applicants with a high 2.2 in an undergraduate Economics degree, but with 2.1 standard in key modules, may also be eligible and will be considered on a case-by-case basis by the Admissions Director.
