  Requirements:
  
  Age:
  - Student Pilot Permit 14 years old
  - Private Pilot Licence 17 years old
  
  Medical:
  - Minimum Category 3 Medical Certificate as determined by Transport Canada.
  
  Ground School Requirements:
  An applicant shall have completed a minimum of 40 hours private pilot aeroplane
  ground school instruction on the following subjects:
  • Canadian Aviation Regulations
  • Aerodynamics and Theory of Flight
  • Meteorology
  • Airframes, Engines and Systems
  • Flight Instruments
  • Radio and Electronic Theory
  • Navigation
  • Flight Operations
  • Licensing Requirements
  • Human Factors, including pilot decision-making
  
  Flight Experience Requirements:
  An applicant shall have completed a minimum of 45 hours private pilot flight training
  in aeroplanes under the direction and supervision of the holder of a Flight Instructor
  Rating – Aeroplane. A maximum 5 of the 45 hours may be conducted on an
  approved aeroplane simulator or flight training device.
  The flight training shall include a minimum of:
  • 17 Hours Dual Instruction Flight Time
  Including a minimum of 3 hours cross-country flight time and 5 hours of
  instrument time of which a maximum of 3 hours may be instrument
  ground time; and
  • 12 Hours Solo Flight Time
  Including 5 hours cross-country flight time with a flight of a minimum of
  150 nautical miles, which shall include 2 full stop landings at points
  other than the point of departure.

  Admission Requirements:

  Completion Requirements:
  Flight Training: Minimum 45 hours total
  - 12 hours solo (pilot in command of the aircraft)
  - 17 hours dual (flying with an instructor)
  - 16 hours solo or dual
  
  Ground Training: Minimum 40 hours of Ground School:
  - A minimum of 80% mark for each of the program’s courses as indicated in “Students Assessment Methods”
  - A minimum of 100% in attendance as indicated in “Attendance Expectations”
  
  Program Duration:
  Private Pilot License issuance is subjected to obtaining a minimum 60% score in TC written Exam and passing successfully the Flight Test. This program duration is 24 weeks.

  Enrollment Requirements:
  Age:
  No minimum age to take lessons. Students must be at least 14 years of age to solo. A private pilot must be at least 17 years of age to hold the licence.
  
  Citizenship:
  An applicant must be a Canadian citizen, a landed immigrant, or a person admitted to Canada with a valid Visa.
  
  Language:
  An applicant must be able to read and write English without assistance.
  
  Minimum flying hours to meet Transport Canada requirements:
  - 17 hours dual flight instruction
  - 12 hours solo flight practice
  - 10 hours ground briefing (estimated)
  - 40 hours Ground School
  - Transport Canada written exam

  A Private Pilot Licence – Aeroplane, allows you to:
  - Fly as pilot-in-command or co-pilot of an aeroplane of a class and type in respect of which the licence is endorsed with ratings
  - Challenge yourself by advancing your licence with additional licences and/or ratings
  
  Prerequisites:
  - Minimum 17 years of age (14 for first solo)
  - Valid Category 1 or 3 Medical Certificate

  Involves over 200 hours of classroom instruction and 60-70 hours flying. You can expect to “solo” after 15-20 hours of dual time with a flight instructor. Classroom work will focus on subjects that include Air Law and Procedures, Navigation, Meteorology, Theory of Flight, Airframes, Engines and Systems, Flight Instruments, Flight Operations, Pilot Decision-Making and Human Factors in Flying.

  - Candidates must be 17 years of age for the issuance of a Private Pilot License; however they may begin at the age of 14.
