    Prerequisites:
    - Valid PPL or CPL
    - Valid, appropriate Medical Certificate
    - For Group 1 Instrument Rating – multi-engine rating

    Training Requirements
    To achieve your Group 1 or Group 3 Instrument Rating you must have :
    - completed a minimum of 50 hours of cross-country flight time as pilot-in-command in aeroplanes
    - 40 hours instrument time of which a maximum of 20 hours may be instrument ground time, including:
    1. One dual cross-country flight under simulated or actual IMC conditions to a point a minimum of 100 nautical miles radius from the point of departure.
    2. The flight is to be conducted in accordance with an IFR flight plan and must include, at two different locations, an instrument approach to minima.
    - successfully completed a flight test to the standard outlined in the Flight Test Standard – Instrument Rating (TP9939E)
    - obtained a minimum of 70% on the written examination for Instrument Rating (INRAT). (Ground school is not required, but is highly recommended).

    Prerequisites:
    The candidate must hold a Private Licence, and 50 Hours X-Country Pilot in Command (PIC.)

    Requirements:
    40 hours of instrument time (Instrument time previously logged for the PPL, night rating or CPL may count toward this minimum time)
    A dual cross-country of at least 100 nautical miles, under simulated or actual IFR conditions must be completed
    A Transport Canada Written and Flight Test must be completed.

    Duration:
    Training is at the student’s pace and convenience. The course will take 2-3 weeks if full time and 2 months if part-time (3-2 lessons a week.), weather and aircraft dependent.
  • Vancouver Aviation College Vancouver Aviation College, British Columbia  
    This course is designed for an Over 12 weeks program at VAC to prepare you as an Instrument Rated pilot. The instrument rating will allow the pilot to learn to fly an aircraft in flight conditions that require watching your instruments. This qualification is required to work in an airline as a pilot.

    Admission Requirements:
    Hold valid PPL / CPL , Intermediate English Level , Aviation Medical Exam class 3 or 1 , Criminal Check, Mature behavior.
