  • RMIT University RMIT University, Melbourne
    Duration:
    Full-time 5 years, Part-time 10 years

    Electives and program structure:
    Years 1 to 3:
You will learn the fundamentals of electronic engineering, communication, computer and network engineering, mathematics and physics tailored for these engineering disciplines, and fundamentals of business management.

All engineering students will also study an Introduction to Professional Engineering course, incorporating a humanitarian-focused Engineers Without Borders Challenge. You’ll have the opportunity to extend this aspect of your studies by completing an Engineers Without Borders elective, enabling you to experience humanitarian engineering first-hand.

Project work will put your knowledge of engineering methods into practice and develop your high-level technical and design skills. You will gain communication, teamwork and leadership skills, and learn how to transmit knowledge, skills and ideas to others.

    Years 4 and 5:
You will specialize in electronic, communication, computer and network engineering and management.

Compulsory courses in engineering will provide advanced knowledges in various fields of electronic, communication, computer and network engineering and research methods for engineers, leading to a major individual engineering design project in the final year related closely to industry to demonstrate high levels of technical competence and organizational skills as well as to exercise enterprise skills.

A range of technical electives will be available in each area to deepen your technical knowledge, enrich your skill set and develop your engineering and professional capabilities. You have the option of specializing in one area or picking electives from several areas for a more generalist program.

Your final-year (capstone) project will develop and reinforce the skills and knowledge you need - as defined by Engineers Australia - to commence your professional engineering career. You may have the opportunity to present your project at EnGenius, an end of year student showcase event.

You will also complete a work-integrated learning (industry experience) elective in Year 4 or 5.

In business management, you will complete six courses plus an elective that cover a wide range of contemporary business management topics addressing challenges in a global, dynamic and changing organisational environment.
