    Four-year BMus degree or four-year bachelor’s degree in related fields (e.g. psychology, speech therapy, occupational therapy, social work or education) or relevant honours degree
    Music proficiency as determined by a proficiency test
    A cumulative weighted average of at least 70% for the BMus degree or the four-year bachelor’s degree
    Psychology passed at final-year level of the bachelor’s degree

    Audition and interviews will assess the following:
    Previous academic record (four-year degree with psychology to third year level)
    Assessing musical abilities: performance on first instrument, level of musical proficiency on keyboard and guitar, aural skills (sight-singing, intervals), use of voice (sight-singing, vocal improvisation) and improvisation skills
    In-depth interview exploring the candidate's personal issues and insights in terms of working with a range of client groups, and assessing psychological and emotional stamina for undertaking the training course
    Selection is based on:
    Academic performance of the previous degree (40%)
    Proficiency in the relevant arts medium (20%)
    Potential to apply the art form therapeutically (15%)
    Ability to build rapport with clients (10%)
    Life experience (5%)
    Insight (5%)
    Maturity (5%)


    Duration of study:
    1 year, full-time.
