    Minimum entry requirements:
    Option I
    a) Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (C.S.E.E.) or East African Certificate of Education (Ordinary Level) or equivalent, with passes in FIVE approved subjects, obtained prior to the sitting of the Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (A.C.S.E.E.) or equivalent. And
    b) One of the following combinations of passes in Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (A.C.S.E.E.) or equivalent;
    Either
    (i) Two principal Level passes (in appropriate subjects) or
    (ii) An appropriate equivalent Diploma/Certificate approved by the Senate of The Open University of Tanzania.
    (iii) Any Two or more Principal Level Passes plus ‘O’ Level credit passes in History, Kiswahili and English. A Pass on the subjects at O-level but a good principal at A-level may be considered or an appropriate equivalent Diploma/Certificate in Journalism with Credit or Higher Grades.

    Option II
    - Candidates who have satisfied Examiners in the Mature Age Entry Examinations set by recognised university will be considered for admission. Written evidence of a satisfactory pass will be essential.

    Option III
    - Candidates who do not qualify under options I and II may register for Foundation Courses (OFC) offered by The Open University of Tanzania. Those who pass examinations set at the end of the course will be eligible for registration for the Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication degree programme.

    Option IV
    - Candidates with awards from other Institutions of Higher Learning will be considered on their own merits. These include a degree or an advanced Diploma in relevant field.

    To be eligible for direct admission to a degree programme applicants must have obtained: –
    -At least three (3) credit level passes in approved subjects in the Certificate of Secondary Education (“O” level);

    -At least two (2) passes in approved subjects in the Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education level (“A” level) with total of 4.0 or more points. Where:

    Completed “A” level studies before 2014: A=5 points, B=4 points, C=3 points, D=2 points, E=1 point and S=0.5 point

    Completed “A” level studies in 2014 and 2015: A=5 points, B+=4 points, B=3 points, C=2 points, D=1 point and E=0 point

    Completed “A” level studies from 2016 A=5 points, B=4 points, C=3 points, D=2 points, E=1 point and S=0.5 point

    (ii) Equivalent Entry Requirements
    To be eligible for equivalent admission to a degree programme applicants must have obtained:

    At least four (4) passes in approved subjects in the Certificate of Secondary Education (“O” level);

    AND

    A diploma of 3.0 GPA in the field relevant to the programme being applied for from a recognized institution of learning.

    Minimum entry requirements:
    i) Candidates must be holders of Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (A.C.S.E.E) with at least two principal passes in any Arts subjects. They must have at least three (3) credit passes in the Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (C.S.E.E O.level) including English. In additional, the applicant must have scored in the Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (A- Level) a total of 2.5 points or more in appropriate subjects at the same sitting. The points are based on the following scale: A =5, B+ =4, B =3, C =2, D =1, E =0.5, F =0.

    ii) Candidates must hold a Diploma in Journalism and Mass Communication or Journalism Television and Radio Production with second-class or credit or B average standing from an institution recognized by the University and or by Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU).

    - For A-Level applicants, the minimum entry qualification is two principal passes with a total of 4.0 points and three credits at O' Level.

    - At least Four O' Level passes (D's and above) or NVA level III with less than four O' Level passes or equivalent foreign qualifications as established by either NECTA or VETA
