    Course entry requirements

    (i) Senior Secondary School Certificate Examinations (SSSCE), and West African Senior School Certificate Examinations (WASSCE) candidates:
    -SSSCE Candidates: Credit Passes (A-D) in six (6) subjects comprising three (3) core subjects, including English Language and Mathematics, plus three (3) relevant elective subjects.
    -WASSCE Candidates: Credit Passes (A1-C6) in six (6) subjects comprising three (3) core subjects, including English Language and Mathematics, plus three (3) relevant elective subjects.

    (ii) General Certificate of Education (GCE) Advanced Level candidates:
    -Passes in three (3) GCE Advanced Level subjects (at least one of the passes should be Grade D or better).
    -Also, the applicant must have had credit passes (Grade 6) in five GCE Ordinary Level subjects including English, Mathematics, a Science subject (for non-science students) and an Art’s subject (for science students).

    (iii) Admission of Higher National Diploma (HND) candidates to first-degree programmes:
    -Applicant must have graduated with a good HND certificate (at least second class lower division). In addition, the applicant must have acquired a minimum of two (2) years post-HND qualification working experience. Other diploma qualifications from elsewhere assessed to be equivalent to HND by the National Accreditation Board (NAB) may be similarly considered.

    (iv) Advanced Business Certificate Examination (ABCE) candidates:
    -Passes in three (3) subjects (at least one of the passes should be Grade D or better). Also, the applicant must have credit passes in five (5) subjects including English, Mathematics, Integrated Science or Social Studies in the General Business Certificate Examination (GBCE)

    (v) Mature Students’ entry:
    -Mature students entry avenues to tertiary education provide opportunities for people who could not do so earlier to further their education at the tertiary level after years in the workplace.
    -The applicant must be at least twenty-five (25) years old, at the time of registration and show proof of age with birth certificate or any legitimate document.
    -An applicant must pass the mature students’ entrance examinations conducted by GIMPA in English, Mathematics and an Aptitude test.

    (vi) Foreign Qualifications:
    -All foreign qualifications would be referred to the National Accreditation Board (NAB) for determination of equivalences and eligibility for admission to tertiary institutions in Ghana in accordance with the National Accreditation Board Act, 2007 [Act 744 (2(2b)].Note should be taken however that the American SAT, TOEFL etc. cannot in themselves be acceptable as entry qualifications into GIMPA

    (i) SSSCE applicants
    -The minimum requirements for admission into the programme are credit passes in three core subjects at the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSSCE) including English Language and Mathematics, Integrated Science or Social Studies and credit passes in any three elective subjects. The aggregate score of the 6 subjects should not exceed 24 in the SSSCE. All passes should be grade D (SSSCE) or better.

    (ii) WASSCE applicants
    -The minimum requirements for admission into the programme are credit passes in three core subjects at the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) including English Language and Mathematics, Integrated Science or Social Studies and credit passes in any three elective subjects. The aggregate score of the 6 subjects should not exceed 36 in the WASSCE. All passes should be grade C6 (WASSCE) or better.

    (iii) General certificate of education (GCE) ‘advance’ level applicants
    -Applicants must have credits in at least five West African School Certificate GCE Ordinary Level subjects including English Language, Mathematics and one Science Subject and three passes at GCE A-Level. At least one of the passes at A’level must be Grade D or better.

    (iv) Mature applicants
    -Applicants must have attained the age of 25 years or above at the time of application and have credits in five (5) GCE ‘O’ Level subjects including English Language and Mathematics, or minimum requirement for WASSCE/SSSCE and in addition pass an entrance Examination and / or an interview. Applicant must show proof of birth age which is at least 5 years old at the time of admission.

    (v) HND applicants
    -HND (Computer Studies) holders Second Class Lower Divisions or better will be considered for admission to Level 200 in addition to the Minimum Entry Requirement at WASSCE/SSSCE or five (5) GCE ‘O’ Level credits including English Language and Mathematics. In addition, applicant must have acquired a 2-year post-HND qualification working experience.

    (vi) Foreign applicants
    -Foreign students may be considered for admission if the hold qualifications equivalent to those stated above, provided they are proficient in English Language. Foreign certificates eg. NECO will have to be evaluated by the National Accreditation Board. Applicants must ensure this is done before submitting application.

    -Other qualifications acceptable for consideration for admission include International Baccalaureate (IB), IGCSE, GCSE, American Grade 13 examination and other external qualifications which have equivalences to the WASSCE/SSSCE and the GCE (A levels).
