    Admission criteria:
    Graduates of the University of Nigeria or of other recognized universities who hold qualifications in African Studies or in any other relevant disciplines and who have obtained a master degree appropriate for the proposed areas of study with a minimum of 3.50 grade point average on a 5-point scale or 3.00 on a 4 point-scale are eligible for admission into the Ph.D programme of the Institute of African Studies.

    Course duration:
    The full-time programme will run for a minimum of 8 semesters and a maximum of 12
    semesters.

    Part-time students will be required to spend a minimum of 8 semesters and a maximum of 14
    semesters to complete the programme.
