    Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME)

    Admission into Obong University shall be through Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME) conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) or Direct Entry. In addition to attaining the general required standard in UTME, candidates must satisfy the general university requirements as well as the specific School/Faculty and Programmes requirements. All admissions shall be through JAMB.
    Candidates must possess at least five (5) credit passes in relevant subjects (Government or History, Mathematics Economics, Geography) including English Language, at GCE O/L, WASCE, SSCE, NECO or approved equivalents at not more than 2 sittings.
    Candidates with Teachers Grade II (TC II) with passes at credit or merit levels in conjunction with credit passes in relevant subjects at GCE, WASCE, SSCE, NECO or approved equivalents may be considered. No subject may be counted at both TC II and GCE O/L
    Candidates who wish to change their first choice to Obong University are required to:
    i). Apply for change of Institution through JAMB and

    ii). Obtain Obong University Application Form

    (v) All candidates will be required to go through the Obong University’s Screening Exercise.



    Direct Entry

    Candidates for Direct Entry admission must possess any of the following qualifications:

    Two (2) passes at GCE A/L, HSC, IJMB, JUPEB or approved equivalents in relevant subjects and at least credit passes in three (3) other subjects, including English Language at GCE (O/L), WASCE, SSCE, NECO or approved equivalents at not more than two sittings
    Three (3) passes at GCE A/L, HSC, IJMB, JUPEB or approved equivalents in relevant subjects and at least credit passes in two (2) other subjects including English Language at GCE (O/L), WASCE, SSCE, NECO or approved equivalents at not more than two sittings.
    Two (2) passes at merit level or above in two (2) recognized NCE, OND, HND subjects or approved equivalents and at least 3 credit passes in other subjects including English Language at GCE O/L, WASCE, SSCE, NECO or approved equivalents at not more than two sittings.
    Two “A” level passes including Government or History, Mathematics, Economics, Geography
    Diploma in Public Administration and Political Science, Administration Management, Public/ Local Government Administration, Social Work, Community Development, Industrial and Labour Relations

    Course entry requirements:
    (i) Admissions through the UTME
    For admission to 100 level, candidates must possess five (5) credit passes at Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSSCE), GCE, NECO or equivalent in relevant subjects in not more than two sittings; and obtain a score of 140 and above in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.

    -University shall insist on possession of credit passes in English Language and Mathematics for all categories of students.
    -The University shall also conduct post JAMB screening to ensure that only the best students are admitted. In addition to the general admission requirements stated above, a candidate must meet specific departmental requirements

    (ii) Admission through Direct Entry mode
    -For admission to 200 level, candidates must possess five (5) passes at credit level (including English Language) at Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSSCE), GCE, NECO or equivalent in relevant subjects in not more than two sittings.
    -In addition to the above, candidates should have at least two advanced level passes in the General Certificate of Education examination in relevant subjects, or
    -Ordinary National Diploma with credit level or Nigeria Certificate of Education (NCE) with Credit level.
    -Passes in two IJMB/JUPEB courses out of the three

    Admissions into 300 level
    Candidates with HND, or third class degree can apply for admission into 300 level.

    IJMB
    Kwararafa University also offers the Interim Joint Matriculations Board (IJMB)programme. It is a nationally recognized one year programme which offers successful candidates the opportunity of gaining Direct entry (200 level) admission into any of the Universities

    (iii) The entry requirements for IJMB
    For admission to IJMB, a candidates must possess four(4) credit passes at Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSSCE), GCE, NECO or equivalent in relevant subjects in not more than two sittings.

    The subjects offered at IJMB include: Lit. in English, History, CRK, Government, Economics, Business Studies, Accounting, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, Geography, Agricultural Science, among others.

    A combination of any 3 subjects grants admission to study for degrees in:
    -The Natural Sciences
    -Health Sciences
    -Engineering
    -Agricultural Science
    -Social and Management Sciences
    -Humanities
    -Arts
    -Law

    Admission requirements:
    For admission into 100 level, candidates must possess credit level passes in five subjects at the SSCE/GCE O'Level/NECO/NABTEB or equivalent, obtained in not more than two sittings. The subjects passed must include English Language and Mathematics for the Sciences & Management Sciences programmes and English Language for the Humanities Programmes Candidates awaiting SSCE/GCE O'Level/NECO/NABTEB results may also apply provided the result would be available at the time of Matriculation.

    (B) Direct Entry into 200-Level:
    Candidates for admission into 200-level must have, in addition to requirement for admission into 100-level, passed G.C.E(A/L) in 2 relevant subjects or passed NCE, OND, HND or equivalent at not less than lower credit level.

    (C) JAMB REQUIREMENTS
    100 Level Candidates are required to sit for the 2017/2018 UTME of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and attain the prescribed cut-off marks. This is a statutory requirement for admission into Samuel Adegboyega University. Applicants are to ensure that their UTME subject combinations qualify them for their chosen programmes. Direct Entry candidates must obtain the JAMB Direct Entry Forms. Candidates, who did not choose Samuel Adegboyega University initially in their 2017 UTME but are interested, are also eligible to apply for admission and participate in the admission screening exercise of the University.

    (i) UTME Admission
    Candidates seeking admission through the UTME must possess 5 credits at Ordinary Level in
    English Language, Mathematics, Government or History, Economics or Commerce and any
    other social sciences or art subjects in Senior Secondary Examination Certificate (SSCE) or
    National Examination Council (NECO), National Business and Technical Education Board
    (NABTEB) or its’ equivalent at a maximum of two (2) sittings. Such candidate must satisfy
    the University cut-off point at the UTME examination.

    (ii) Direct Entry Admission.
    Candidates for direct entry must:
    (a) Satisfy the above ‘O’ level requirements
    (b) Obtain at least upper credit pass in National Diploma in relevant fields.
    (c) National Certificate of Education (NCE) with upper credit passes in relevant fields.
    (d) G. C. E. Advance Level Pass in which must include Government or History.
    iii. Inter - University Transfers
    Intra-Departmental and intra-college transfers are permissible only in 100 and 200 levels of study if the student has satisfied the entry requirements of the receiving programme.
    However, request for intra-Departmental or intra-college transfer should be made through the
    University Registrar and if approved, effected at the beginning of the academic session.

    To earn a degree in public administration, all compulsory courses must be taken, and passed. All courses taught during each semester shall be examined at the end of that semester. Candidates will be credited with the number of courses units assigned to the course, which they have taken. The total number of units taken with the number of courses shall also be recorded for the purpose of computing the cumulative grade point average (CGPA). The continuous assessment has 30 percent of the marks for any course taught. Classes of degree are to be awarded depending on the CGPA obtained.

    Even when a student repeats the same course once or more before passing it, grades scored at each, and all attempts shall be included in the computation on the CGPA. Grades obtained in all the registered courses whether compulsory or optional, whether passed or failed must be included in the computation. The minimum number of the credit units required for the award of a degree is 130 units. This must be satisfied by a student before a degree is awarded.

    II) Candidates for Direct Entry Admission should posses Credit passes in the General Certificate of Education or its equivalent, two of which shall be at the advanced level, or four credit passes, three of which, Shall be at advanced level, provided that such passes are not counted at both levels of the examination. The subject passed at the “A” level must include Government or History.
