    a) UTME: 4 Year Degree Programme

    i) Five (5) Credit level passes in the SSCE/NECO/GCE (O/L) to include English Language, and CRK/BK/ at not more than one sitting; a pass in Mathematics is acceptable to us at MTU.
    ii) The Candidate could have at least six O’Level papers including English
    Language, Christian Religious Studies and at least one other Arts subject at
    credit level in WAEC or NECO or GCE Ordinary Level or its equivalent at not
    more than two sittings.
    iii) JAMB/UTME SUBJECTS: Candidates are required to register and pass
    English Language, and any other three subjects in Arts, Social or Management Sciences, and even Natural Sciences.
    b) DIRECT ENTRY: 3 Year Degree Programme
    i) Five credits in General Certificate of Education, Ordinary Level and NECO at least two of which must be a GCE Advanced Level including Christian Religious Knowledge as in UTME above; and then,

    ii) A pass in two principal subjects at the NCE Level/ A/L, or JUPEB and/or the equivalent plus five subjects at credit level in GCE O/L, SSCE, NECO, and TC II are acceptable in MTU

    iii) A Three-Year Diploma in any Theological Seminary or College recognized by the University plus five credits at the GCE ‘O’ Level including English Language and CRK.

    iv) Eligible holders of Mountain Top Bible College Diploma could be admitted for a two-year programme leading to the award of BA Degree in Mountain Top University’s Religious Studies.

    v) A minimum of 2 GCE (A/L) passes one of which must be any one of the specified in (i) above, or Diploma in Religious Studies or a Diploma in a cognate Arts programmes is also acceptable.

    C) INTER-UNIVERSITY TRANSFER: The University allows inter-university transfer as long as the candidate can prove that he was a bona fide student of the University of his/her claim.
    However, the candidate will be required to provide the official academic transcript from the aforesaid university which is his basic proof.

    Admission requirements:
    a) Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME): 4 - Year Degree Programme

    The Senior Secondary School (SSS) Certificate with Credits in English Language, Mathematics and three (3) other relevant subjects. The Senior Secondary School (SSSC) Certificate should give a clear indication of equivalents with West African School Certificate (WASC) or the General Certificate of Education (GCE) Ordinary Level and the National Examination Council (NECO). In addition to this, an acceptable score at the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) is required. The person shall be screened for eligibility.

    b) Direct Entry (DE): 3-Year Degree Programme

    A minimum of two (2) GCE A/L in any Arts or Social and Management Sciences and three (3) O/L papers including a credit in English Language and credit or pass in Mathematics; or a Diploma in Law or Social and Management Sciences. Candidates with other degrees, Higher National Diploma (H.N.D.), Ordinary National Diploma (O. N. D.) or National Certificate of Education (N. C. E.) certificates may be admitted into the Direct Entry programme.

    c) Inter-university transfer

    Students can seek for transfer into the Department of Philosophy from other recognized universities whose Philosophy programmes are approved and accredited by National Universities Commission (NUC). Such persons shall present certified transcripts, be of good conduct, must have a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of a minimum of 1.0 and must meet the requirements of Madonna University. Such persons may only be admitted into year two and not into a higher level.

    d) Intra-university transfer

    Students can seek for transfer into the Department of Philosophy from other relevant programmes in Madonna University. Such students must have basic admission requirements and must have completed at least one academic session in the respective department and must have Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of a minimum of 1.0.

    For admission into 100 level, candidates must possess credit level passes in five subjects at the SSCE/GCE O'Level/NECO/NABTEB or equivalent, obtained in not more than two sittings. The subjects passed must include English Language and Mathematics for the Sciences & Management Sciences programmes and English Language for the Humanities Programmes Candidates awaiting SSCE/GCE O'Level/NECO/NABTEB results may also apply provided the result would be available at the time of Matriculation.

    (B) Direct Entry into 200-Level:
    Candidates for admission into 200-level must have, in addition to requirement for admission into 100-level, passed G.C.E(A/L) in 2 relevant subjects or passed NCE, OND, HND or equivalent at not less than lower credit level.

    (C) JAMB REQUIREMENTS
    100 Level Candidates are required to sit for the 2017/2018 UTME of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and attain the prescribed cut-off marks. This is a statutory requirement for admission into Samuel Adegboyega University. Applicants are to ensure that their UTME subject combinations qualify them for their chosen programmes. Direct Entry candidates must obtain the JAMB Direct Entry Forms. Candidates, who did not choose Samuel Adegboyega University initially in their 2017 UTME but are interested, are also eligible to apply for admission and participate in the admission screening exercise of the University.

    Admission criteria:
    (i) Admission Requirements UTME (4-Year Programme)
    To be eligible for admission into the 4 years B.A. Degree programme in Philosophy, candidates must obtain five (5) O’Level credits at one sitting or at least six (6) credits at two sittings in the GCE/SSCE/NECO examinations. Such credits must include English Language and at least one Arts subject. In addition, candidates must satisfy the general minimum admission requirements for degree programmes in the University of Ibadan.

    (ii) Direct Entry (3-Year Programme) For admission into the 3 year direct entry programme in B.A. Philosophy, candidates must obtain A level passes of not less than a ‘C’ grade in at least one Arts subject and any other relevant Social Science/Science subject. Relevant degree holders with at least second class lower division from recognized institutions are also qualified to apply into the 3 year direct entry programme in B.A. Philosophy. In addition, candidates must satisfy the general minimum admission requirements for degree programmes in the University of Ibadan.

    Applicants are required to meet at least one of the following requirements:

    (a) 100 Level
    -Five Ordinary Level (O/L) credit passes including English Language, Mathematics and any other three subjects at SSCE, GCE, NECO and NABTEB.

    (b) 200 Level
    -A minimum of 3 credits passes in IJMB, OND, NCE or its equivalent in addition to 5 credit passes at the ordinary level, including English Language and Mathematics.
    -Diploma in Philosophy, Religious Studies, Islamic Studies, Christian Theology, Law, Political Science, Sociology, from NOUN and any other recognized institution, in addition to 5 credit passes at the Ordinary Level, including English Language.
    -A minimum of second-class lower degree from any other discipline from Universities recognized by the Senate of NOUN
    -Any other qualification acceptable to Senate of NOUN.

A candidate with GCE (A/Level), the NCE or other equivalent qualifications may also be considered for Direct Entry admission.
